Gauloises Cigarettes
Gauloises cigarettes are of French origin and they were first produced for sale in 1910. Gauloises cigarette brand remained unfiltered cigarettes until 1950's when all major cigarette brands had to introduce filters. This brand is currently produced by the Imperial Tobacco Company, which also makes other top brands like Davidoff, etc. Earlier this brand used dark tobacco imported from Turkey and Syria. The cigarettes that were made with dark tobacco leaves were very good in taste but it was also very strong. So a large population of mild cigarette smokers could not enjoy this amazing brand. To solve this problem, Gauloises introduced a new version which used light tobacco leaves, the cigarettes made using this new tobacco was mild and also rich in taste. Gauloises launched this new version in 1984 and called it Gauloises Blondes. This special tasting cigarette brand has succeeded in gaining the support and appreciation of millions of people worldwide. People love this cigarette for its magnificent taste, pleasant flavor and supreme quality. Gauloises cigarettes have been in circulation for over 100 years, and in this time period the strength and flavor of the cigarette has somewhat changed but the quality has never changed. Gauloises can proudly boast of successfully preserving the quality of this brand. In 1999 when this brand was manufactured by Seita, the French health insurance fund filed a lawsuit against four cigarette manufacturers, including Seita. The suit was filed to cover the costs of treating ailments due to cigarette smoking. This suit was followed by more suits, one by the family of a deceased person who was a heavy smoker and then by the French health state insurer. Hence the brand administration was shifted to Altadis which is a joint French and Spanish ownership and later this company was acquired by the current owner Imperial Tobacco Company. |
